Every January, when the new year starts there is this idea that who we are right now isn’t enough—that we need to reinvent ourselves to be worthy of the year ahead. In the past years as someone who battles mental health issues this concept would quietly reinforce a sense of shame: If I haven’t changed yet, I’ve failed.
I have learned in recent years, mental health doesn’t work that way. I am here to tell you there is nothing wrong with you. it is ok if you are carrying the weight of the past year. You survived and that is strength.
Growth doesn’t have to look like dramatic transformation. You are not behind. Our healing is not a race.
Remember This year doesn’t require a new version of you. It simply wants a kinder relationship with the person you already are.
As always you are worth it and you matter.
